The Katy Tigers turned a 20-7 first half deficit into a 45-20 victory over Alief Taylor at Rhodes Stadium. Katy outscored Alief Taylor 31-0 after halftime.

The Tigers started brightly with a touchdown on the first drive of the game after receiving the opening kick. However, Alief Taylor scored 20 unanswered points after the Tigers' initial success. The Lions used a balanced offense to move down the field and end drives with touchdowns. Alief Taylor took advantage of several 3rd-and-long conversions by senior quarterback Jordan Are' to seize the advantage. Katy scored a key touchdown late in the first half after forcing an Alief Taylor fumble with less than two minutes left in the half. The deficit was reduced to 20-14.
Katy stopped Alief Taylor on the opening possession of the second half with another forced fumble. The Tigers ultimately had to settle for a Jeff Johnson field goal on the ensuing possession to narrow the margin to 20-17. The Tigers' sputtering play ended soon after as Katy ended the game with four touchdown drives.
Katy running backs Donovonn Young and Adam Taylor led the Tiger revival on offense. Young scored four touchdowns overall. The Katy defense, after allowing 20 first half points, held Alief Taylor under 30 total yards in the second half. Senior cornerback Robert Jackson set up Katy's last scoring drive with an acrobatic interception near midfield.
The Tigers move to 2-0 overall for the season going into next week's bye. Katy faces Beaumont West Brook on September 18th at 6 pm in Beaumont.
