Cy Fair quickly drove the field in the game's first drive, but the Tiger defense stopped the Bobcats inside the red zone and blocked the field goal attempt. However, Katy botched a snap on its first play from scrimmage and Cy Fair recovered. The Bobcats made no mistake with the second chance and scored the game's first points shortly after.
Katy scored 27 unanswered points after Cy Fair led 7-0 initially. The Bobcats closed the gap to 27-14 on a 65-yard touchdown strike to Christian Cook with under two minutes remaining in the half. The Tigers answered with a flawless two minute drill, capped by a Vernon Jeffries touchdown run, to stretch the lead back to 20 points (34-14) at half time.
The Tigers, seemingly ready to engage cruise control with the first possession of the second half, fumbled the kick and put Cy Fair on the two yard line. The Bobcats only needed one play to make it 34-20.
The unflinching Katy offense scored three unanswered touchdowns to complete the winning margin. Cy Fair allowed just under 17 points per game in previous contests. Katy senior running back Donovonn Young surpassed the 2,000 yard rushing mark with just over 190 yards and three touchdowns.
Katy (12-0) will play North Shore next Saturday (1 pm) at Pasadena's Veterans Memorial Stadium.
