Congratulations to the team on the 37-3 regional semi-final victory over La Porte. Katy led 14-3 at half and outscored the Bulldogs 23-0 in the second half.
| Team | Record | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | Final |
| Katy | 12-1 | 0 | 14 | 7 | 16 | 37 |
| La Porte | 8-4 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3 |
The first half was very flat offensively and also in parts defensively. The decision to bring in Haack for the second half helped get the offense going. Haack executed very well and we saw the Katy offense. That is why players are told to stay ready. You never know when your opportunity will arrive. Haack took full advantage of his opportunity today.
The defense did a very good job of limiting La Porte's production on the ground and not allowing points. Katy only ran three plays in the first quarter, but La Porte only had three points to show for all of that possession. Sam Holl was very active, and got himself a very good interception when he jumped a pass underneath and took it back to La Porte's 10. That was a huge momentum swing. He also returned a fumble for a TD in the second half. Channing Pate's interception was a tremendous read and break on the ball.
It was good to see a positive second half after a flat first half. The guys really needed to come out of that locker room with a purpose after halftime, and they responded.
