Morton Ranch frustrated the heavily favored Katy Tigers for a half with potent option offense and special teams play, but the Tigers used a crushing third quarter display to corral the Mavericks on the way to a 63-10 romp at Rhodes Stadium.
| Team | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | Final |
| Katy | 14 | 14 | 28 | 7 | 63 |
| Morton Ranch | 3 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 10 |
Katy's 28-10 halftime lead was somewhat fortuitous given the success Morton Ranch enjoyed in moving the football throughout the first half. The Mavericks had a chance to narrow the gap just before half, but a botched play turned the ball over to Katy after Morton Ranch had driven to the Tigers' one yard line. Katy put the game to bed with 28 third quarter points. The Tigers scored 49 unanswered points after the Mavericks narrowed the count to 14-10 in the first half.
While Katy's defense and special teams units needed time to adjust, the Tiger offense hit the ground running from the first play of the night. Senior running back Donovonn Young raced 73 yards to get the Tigers started after Morton Ranch scored three points on the game's first drive. Young tallied 249 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns in three quarters of action.
The Katy offense set a new program record for rushing yardage in a game with an absurd sum of 511 yards. The previous high mark (448) was set in a 1998 non-district game against Baytown Sterling.
The Morton Ranch offense, with nearly 200 total yards in the first half, was held to negative yardage (-2) in the third quarter. An 18-yard touchdown scamper from senior RB Vernon Jeffries capped the scoring with over 10 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. The Tiger reserves, now with enough snaps this season to qualify as veterans, kneeled out the last seconds in Katy's largest margin of victory over Morton Ranch to date.
