Congratulations to the three-peat Region 3 champion Katy Tigers! Tigers win 38-21 and in so doing, outscore Clear Springs 17-0 after half. Championship level defense from mid 2nd quarter through the end of the game. Carcisse played one of the best individual defensive games I have ever seen. In-cred-i-ble. 4 sacks from Nick. 4 picks.

Very good job by Haack again - made some really big time plays.
I thought the officiating was very poor all-around today. Clear Springs got away with offensive and defensive holding for four quarters. Narcisse would have had 8 sacks had they not held him so much. Their DBs were mugging Katy's pass receivers down field. There is no chuck rule, but there sure as heck is a holding rule. The pass interference they called on Katy was completely bogus. The worst I've seen all year called for interference. Katy should have been flagged for delay of game on the fake field goal. Very, very poor game from the officials (have since been told the play clock started early).
Clear Springs was clearly rookies in nearly every aspect. From the fans to the players. Their fans were woofing from the outset, and their players as well. They were talking crap to Ryan Jones when they were running off the field after warm ups. They jeered Donovonn Young when he dropped a pass near their sideline in warm ups.
Clear Springs had good talent, but they were pretty fortunate Katy had the break downs in the first half. Katy could have easily hung 50 on them with a B+ or A game. 14 of Clear Springs' 21 points came off of Tiger breakdowns (first TD pass and punt block). They ran a good play for their second long TD pass, and had a mismatch on that one.
I thought Katy had to make the change on offense again this week because the game was on the verge of completely getting away from the Tigers after the punt block. It was reminiscent of the third quarter against Cy Falls in 2005 when Katy gave up a couple long plays and then botched the quail return. I was glad to see the team bounce back after the mental mistakes and put together a strong second half.
The defense was just amazing in the second half. Outstanding and dominant. Now that the Tigers have found some answers, we'll see if they'll get a four quarter effort together for New Braunfels next week.
