Strake Jesuit became the latest opponent on the business end of a Katy whipping in a 45-14 Tiger victory at Rice Stadium. Katy led the entire way and was never threatened in the contest.
| Team | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | Final |
| Katy | 14 | 14 | 14 | 3 | 45 |
| Strake Jesuit | 0 | 0 | 0 | 14 | 14 |
The Tigers led 28-0 at halftime and called off the dogs after stretching the lead to 42-0 midway through the third quarter. For the third week in a row, Katy was able to empty the sidelines and get nearly every roster player involved.
Senior running back Donovonn Young led the Tiger offense with 174 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns in a little over two quarters worth of playing time. Tag team partner Adam Taylor, a sophomore running back, added two touchdowns (1 rushing, 1 receiving). Senior fullback Joey Chapman also scored.
Junior kicker Jeff Johnson completed Katy's scoring with a successful field goal attempt. The Katy offense punished a super aggressive Strake Jesuit defense with direct running from Young and Taylor. The Crusaders often had eight players at the line of scrimmage, and the Tiger runners found acres of green space after breaking the point of attack.
Junior quarterback Brooks Haack passed for two touchdowns and nearly 150 yards. The best player on the field for Strake Jesuit was senior defensive lineman M.J. Sam. Sam was involved in several plays and generally caused havoc for the Tiger offensive line.
The first team Katy defense held its opponent scoreless for the second straight week. Senior linebacker Grant Clifton was in the middle of several plays. Strake Jesuit only passed the 50 yard line once against Katy's first team defense.
Katy moves to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in 19-5A after another dominant win. To discuss the game more, check out the postgame thread in our discussion forums.
