Katy's visit to Beaumont was given a billing worthy of a late round playoff game by Triangle news outlets before the game, but all of the hype was quickly silenced at the brand new Thomas Center as the opportunistic Tigers ran out 45-21 victors over West Brook.
| Team | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | Final |
| Katy | 7 | 28 | 10 | 0 | 45 |
| Westbrook | 0 | 7 | 0 | 14 | 21 |
The contest started evenly with both teams trading touchdowns early to put the count at 7-7, but Katy scored 38 unanswered points to put the game away before shutting things down midway through the third quarter. West Brook senior quarterback Bruce Reyes left the game with a should injury after Katy had forced and recovered a fumble from him deep inside of Bruin territory. West Brook had mixed results with Reyes early. Reyes spearheaded the Bruins' first scoring drive, but he was also directly responsible for two of Katy's touchdowns via turnovers. With West Brook's talisman out, Katy promptly built a large cushion and the game was effectively over by halftime.
Katy quickly scored 10 straight points to remove any lingering doubt when play resumed in the third quarter. The Tigers closed the remaining quarter and a half by using just about every player in pads. West Brook added two late scores.
The Bruins attempted to throw Katy off its game plan by using several different alignments on defense, but the Tigers, just as they did against North Shore and Alief Taylor, eventually found a way through. Katy junior quarterback Brooks Haack (3 TD passes) managed to hook up with his receivers, fullbacks and tight ends to unpack things a bit.
The highlight of the night for Katy was senior DE Nick Narcisse's return to the field after an off-season long bout with a form of throat cancer. Narcisse forced and recovered a fumble in first half action.
