Spring football will kick off in earnest across the state within a few short weeks. The back-to-back Division II State Champion Tigers went back to work in January following a triumphant 13-3 season in 2008.
The incoming varsity group is much more experienced than it was at this time last year. The Tigers return varsity experience at [...]

This was a dominant effort. We had a few hiccups here and there, but I don’t think there’s anything about the effort to be disappointed with in the least. I am pleased with the entire team, but my game ball today is going to Parker Ray. He’s busted his tail all season and had a [...]

Our pitch play is a thing of beauty when it is executed effectively. If some of our inside runs look like Moses parting the Red Sea, then the outside plays resemble the water crashing back down on the Egyptians. It’s like watching one Big Red wave of devastation move around that corner. Awesome! This has [...]

The Gators dressed out pretty well, but the Tigers came out and handled business. I thought we’d be fine if we came out and played a clean football game. We accomplished that for the most part. The running game got started early for the Tiger offense and that is always a good sign. However, the [...]

The offense accomplished 11 goals and the defense got 9 of their team goals. Special teams got three. I’m pretty sure this is our best game of the year so far in combined offense and defense goals. We were over 400 total yards and Humble didn’t crack 100.
The offense did a good job of starting [...]

Tully looked great with the renovations. The raised field brings the action a lot closer to the fans, and it didn’t look like any of the players had footing issues on the field turf. I didn’t see the field house, but I imagine that is good also. The next thing they will upgrade is the [...]

The Stratford Spartans came into this season breaking in several new varsity players after the talented class featuring quarterback Andrew Luck (Stanford) graduated. Hurricane Ike put Stratford’s rebuilding plan on hold after their initial shut out win over Macarthur. Stratford missed a month of football due to the storm.
The Spartans immediately jumped into district play [...]

Cinco fully deserved to win this game. We didn’t execute. Championship teams execute, and we were very wasteful in key moments.
I don’t know the exact numbers, but Cinco Ranch must have set a record for third down conversions. Our pass coverage was exploited and that wasn’t terribly surprising based on how we looked in prior [...]

The Cinco Ranch football program is currently enjoying its best regular season since 2006. The Cougars finished 11-2 that season. 2004 is the only other time Cinco’s recorded more than six victories in the regular season.Â
Cinco opened the year by taking their first ever road trip to San Antonio to play the Reagan Rattlers. Reagan [...]
