Game Recaps

Tully looked great with the renovations. The raised field brings the action a lot closer to the fans, and it didn’t look like any of the players had footing issues on the field turf. I didn’t see the field house, but I imagine that is good also. The next thing they will upgrade is the [...]

Cinco fully deserved to win this game. We didn’t execute. Championship teams execute, and we were very wasteful in key moments.
I don’t know the exact numbers, but Cinco Ranch must have set a record for third down conversions. Our pass coverage was exploited and that wasn’t terribly surprising based on how we looked in prior [...]

Tigers 41 Mayde Creek 3
Overall, it was a nice business as usual game from the Tigers. That was good to see because this has been a crazy weekend of football. The game started well with the defense forcing a three and out. We took the punt and went into the end zone on a short [...]

This is definitely one of those instances when the scoreboard looks really good at the end, but the game itself suggests something different. I have to say I didn’t think this team could play flat and still win 45-6. Last year’s group did that a couple times. The first half was sluggish at best, but [...]

Tigers win 54-14.
The first quarter started sluggish. By half, the Tigers put the game beyond doubt up 42-7. I think everyone got to play in the fourth. The Tigers took a couple knees inside the Seven Lakes 10 yard line late and then ran an fullback dive on 4th and long to avoid breaking 60.
Junior [...]

I heard the stats have us over 400 yards rushing. I was saying we had to be over 350 after the game, and it looks like that’s been confirmed. This was as good of a running performance as I’ve seen from a Katy team in a long time.
For those who weren’t there, Morton’s returner dropped [...]

Film night is a lot of fun when you win by 20+.
Here are some of the awards. I’ll have the rest up when I get a digital copy.
Mr. Offense- FB Chris Roberson (good running on Katy draw and good blocking as well)
Mr. Defense- DL Nick Narcisse (very disruptive and blocked a kick for good measure)
Mr. [...]

In case you haven’t seen the score yet, the Tigers won 27-10.
I thought the Tigers took control in the second quarter, and the team wasn’t threatened after that. Oak Ridge runs a tricky flexbone offense, and they gashed us a few times in the early going. They didn’t pop as many big plays after their [...]

The first win feels great.
The offense played a better game than they did against North Shore and The Woodlands. The Tigers did have a turnover late (interception), but it wasn’t a bad play by the QB Parker Ray. The receiver was wide open at the first down marker but fell down. If Jon Barnette (FB) [...]

I am opting out of the usual post-game review because their really isn’t much to say. The scoreboard is self-explanatory. I’d rather focus my energy on looking at the path in front us now, and where we might go from a strictly football point of view.
The guys were up at the field house as usual [...]
