It was good for those that didn't win a state ring.

Okay, I'm in Pei Wei waiting for a to-go order when a couple come in with their young son. Man looks at me and says "Where are the rest?" I don't have a clue what he is talking about. He points to my 2008 State Champ Hat and says "They've won a number of times." Okay, I get it now. I tell him that is one of the years that I had a son on the team.

Then he says (and I swear this is true) "I don't recognize them as state champs because they didn't play the big teams. I graduated from Taylor." No break, not pause. I guess he added the Taylor thing on so I would understand why he had no clue.

So understanding that he is not going to realize that the break in the Division I and II is pretty arbitrary, I just say, "the 2007 team could have beaten anyone." His answer to that? "You think they could have beat UT or A&M?" Had to ask him to repeat that as I didn't have my ears on and was not sure I heard him correctly. I had to clarify that I was only talking about high school teams in the nation. I should have answered "Well, we did have two DBacks from that team that walked on the field at College Station and started as true freshmen."

"A mind is a sad thing to waste."
You would think that people who went to school in Texas would have a clue about how this thing works, but they don't.

Who exactly "named" us TOD? I have yet to see, even on the Facebook page. Not that I don't appreciate it, but does anyone else get the feeling that this is just some jewelry company who named us just to sell rings?
